For conjoint analysis I use jAC (java Adaptive Conjoint), a java re-implementation of Sawtooth's original ACA package. jAC was originally developed by Prof. Dr. Dr. Lars Schmidt-Thieme who is now head of the Computer-based New Media group at the University of Freiburg. He kindly let me use his software for my PhD. I modified the software to fit my needs, especially the GUI, and I extended the software to support direct price estimation (the PE scene, which was the heart of my PhD).

During my time at the Institute for Information Business of the Vienna University of Economics and Business Administration I conducted 3 conjoint interviews.
  1. Nokia interview
  2. Music study
  3. VC study (Gamma version,  E&I version)
Nokia study: The first interview was for my PhD, for which 1000 randomly selected newsletter recipients of the Nokia online shop in Germany were invited.  This conjoint setup consists of a selection page for three different telephones, followed by a seperate interview for each of the telephones. At the end of each interview the PE scene is appended, in which willingness-to-pay is estimated for each participant individually. You can test the interview here.

Music study: This was a supervised interview among students at the Vienna University of Economics and Business Administration. The objective was to estimate willingness-to-pay for music downloads. This interview randomly assigns the interviewee to one of two conjoint interviews. One consists of a conjoint design without price, which has the PE scene appended to it. The other consists of a regular conjoint design with price included as an attribute. Test it here.

VC study: This research was conducted together with the Institute of Entrepreneurship & Innovation (E&I) of the Vienna University of Economics and Business Administration, namly with Gernot Hofer, who was a PhD student there at the time. In this research portfolio companies of venture capital investors were interviewed about value added services. The participating companies were from Austria, Switzerland, and Germany. There exists two versions of the interview, the (Gamma version for the German and Swiss companies and the  E&I version for the Austrian companies. The gamma version is in the look and feel of the gcp gamma capital partners, the E&I version in the look and feel of Institute of Entrepreneurship & Innovation. Besides the look and feel both interviews are the same. Test the intervies here: Gamma version,  E&I version.
